Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art originally developed by Ueshiba.  This martial art focuses more on using natural forces to move people as opposed to brute strength.  Practice is done in pairs, and the class normally has a range of practitioners of various sizes, ages and ranks in Aikido.  All work together to develop Kokikai KI power.  Sensei Shuji Maruyama is still developing the style of Kokikai Aikido.  Sensei, as he is called in the Kokikai community, regularly visits America, and comes to Boston in November.

In Aikido empty hand is the normal practice.  Technique with weapons, such as tanto (knife) Bokken, (Sword) and Jo (staff) are also practiced either as katas or during throws.

Aikido is the perfect martial art for almost anyone.   Everyone has a certain quality that they can bring to the group.
